USS John S. McCain (DDG-56) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, commissioned July 2, 1994 at Bath Iron Works and named for two generations of Navy four-stars: Admiral John S. "Slew" McCain Sr., who led carrier task forces across the Pacific in World War II, and his son Admiral John S. McCain Jr., who served as Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Pacific Command during the Vietnam War. In 2018 the ship's namesake was expanded to include Senator John S. McCain III. Forward-deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, McCain has served as one of the U.S. 7th Fleet's most heavily deployed destroyers. This framed ship photo is a tribute to her crew and to the three generations of McCain Navy service the ship honors.
