USS Mobile Bay (CG-53) was a Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser, commissioned February 21, 1987 at Pascagoula, Mississippi and named for the 1864 Battle of Mobile Bay — where Rear Admiral David Farragut led the Union fleet through Confederate torpedoes (mines) and forts with his famous order, "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!" Homeported at NAS North Island, San Diego, Mobile Bay served the Pacific Fleet through more than three decades of deployments. She was decommissioned September 7, 2024 after thirty-seven years of service. This framed ship photo is a tribute to her crew and the legacy of one of the longest-serving Aegis cruisers of the Pacific Fleet.
