This framed photo captures USS Nimitz (CVN-68) and USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) — the lead ship and the ninth ship of the Nimitz class — operating in formation at sea. A dual-carrier strike group is among the most powerful displays of U.S. Navy combat power afloat, fielding nearly 200 aircraft and more than 11,000 Sailors between two flight decks. Nimitz, commissioned 1975, and Reagan, commissioned 2003, represent twenty-eight years of Nimitz-class evolution sailing in company — Reagan a Block II improvement of Nimitz's original 1968 design.
