USS Normandy (CG-60) is a Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser, commissioned December 9, 1989 at Pascagoula, Mississippi and named for the June 6, 1944 Allied invasion of Normandy — the largest amphibious assault in history and the operation that began the liberation of Western Europe from Nazi Germany. Homeported at Naval Station Norfolk, Normandy has served the Atlantic Fleet through more than three decades of deployments including Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and multiple Mediterranean cruises. As an Aegis air defense platform she has stood watch alongside multiple carrier strike groups. This framed ship photo is a tribute to her crew and to the soldiers, sailors, and airmen of D-Day whose legacy she carries to sea.
