    The 2011-12 Mediterranean deployment was historic by any measure. The Arab Spring swept through Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya in rapid succession, and when the Libyan civil war erupted in February 2011, the United States and NATO responded with Operation Odyssey Dawn — launching strikes to enforce the UN no-fly zone beginning March 19. USS Cape St. George (CG-71) was in the middle of it all. Then came May 2, 2011, and the news that changed everything: Osama bin Laden was dead. Syria's civil war erupted weeks later, and the old order of the Mediterranean gave way to something entirely new. This long sleeve honors the crew who witnessed it all.
