USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) is the eighth ship of the Nimitz class, commissioned July 25, 1998 at Newport News, Virginia and named for the 33rd President of the United States. With the motto "The Buck Stops Here" — taken from the desk sign in Truman's Oval Office — she has served across more than a quarter-century of fleet operations including Operation Allied Force over Kosovo in 1999, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and Operation Inherent Resolve against ISIS. In 2018 she became the first U.S. aircraft carrier to operate above the Arctic Circle since the end of the Cold War. Homeported at Naval Station Norfolk for her entire career, Truman remains a flagship of the Atlantic Fleet's carrier force.
