USS Lake Erie (CG-70) is a Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser, commissioned July 24, 1993 at Pascagoula, Mississippi and named for the 1813 Battle of Lake Erie — Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's decisive War of 1812 victory that gave the United States control of Lake Erie and inspired his famous report, "We have met the enemy and they are ours." Homeported at Pearl Harbor, Lake Erie has spent her career as the U.S. Navy's primary missile defense test platform, conducting many of the first successful intercepts of the Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) ballistic missile defense system. She remains a cornerstone of Pacific Fleet missile defense operations. This framed ship photo is a tribute to her crew and the legacy of the Navy's premier ballistic missile defense cruiser.
