USS Lake Erie (CG-70) is a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser commissioned on July 24, 1993, and homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. She is named in honor of the Battle of Lake Erie, Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's decisive victory over the British during the War of 1812. Lake Erie has distinguished herself as a leader in ballistic missile defense — most notably, on February 20, 2008, she successfully intercepted a malfunctioning U.S. spy satellite in a mission designated Operation Burnt Frost. This product commemorates her 1999 WESTPAC deployment, during which Lake Erie deployed to the Western Pacific conducting maritime security operations, strike group escort, and theater ballistic missile defense training. Wear it with pride to honor the officers and crew who served aboard CG-70 during that deployment.
