USS Mesa Verde (LPD-19) is a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock, commissioned December 15, 2007 at Naval Station Norfolk and named for Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado — the only U.S. Navy ship in fleet history to bear the name. Designed to carry Marines and their helicopters, V-22 Ospreys, landing craft, and amphibious vehicles, she is built around a 28,000-square-foot well deck and a flight deck supporting two Ospreys or four CH-53 helicopters. Mesa Verde has deployed across the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf and supported humanitarian assistance missions across multiple theaters. Homeported at Naval Station Norfolk. This framed ship photo is a tribute to her crew and the legacy of one of the Navy's modern San Antonio-class transport docks.
