This framed photo captures USS Mobile Bay (CG-53) at NAS North Island, San Diego — her homeport for nearly her entire thirty-seven-year career. Commissioned February 21, 1987 at Pascagoula and decommissioned September 7, 2024, the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser was a fixture of the Pacific Fleet, named for the 1864 Battle of Mobile Bay where Farragut shouted "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!" The sight of a Tico cruiser alongside the piers of North Island is a defining image of San Diego's military identity. This framed ship photo is a tribute to her crew and the homeport that anchored her career.
