USS Harry E. Yarnell (CG-17) honored the legacy of Admiral Harry E. Yarnell, a pioneering naval aviation advocate whose forward-thinking doctrine helped shape American carrier warfare before World War II. Originally commissioned in 1960 as guided missile destroyer leader DLG-17, she was redesignated CG-17 in 1975 and served as a powerful Cold War surface combatant until her decommissioning in 1980. This mug carries the proud crest of a ship named for one of the Navy's great visionaries.
