USS George Washington (CVN-73) is a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, commissioned in July 1992. Known as "The Spirit of Freedom," GW has been a forward-deployed carrier based in Yokosuka, Japan for much of her career — serving as the centerpiece of U.S. naval power in the Western Pacific. This neck gaiter honors her crew and the proud legacy of her service.
