The families of USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) sailors lived through September 11, 2001 knowing their loved ones were among the first called to respond. When Carl Vinson launched the opening strikes of Operation Enduring Freedom on October 7, 2001, families at home felt a mixture of fear, pride, and resolve that no words fully capture.
