USS Philippine Sea (CG-58) is a Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser commissioned on March 18, 1989, and homeported in Mayport, Florida. Named in honor of the Battle of the Philippine Sea in June 1944, she is one of the most capable surface combatants in the U.S. Navy's fleet. During her 1994 deployment commemorated by this sweatshirt, Philippine Sea operated in the Adriatic Sea and Mediterranean in support of NATO operations related to the conflict in the former Yugoslavia, enforcing United Nations sanctions and contributing to the multinational naval effort in the region.
