USS Port Royal (CG-73) is the twenty-seventh and final ship of the Ticonderoga class, commissioned July 9, 1994 at Pascagoula, Mississippi and named for the 1861 Battle of Port Royal — the early Civil War Union victory that secured a vital base on the South Carolina coast. Homeported at Pearl Harbor, Port Royal has served the Pacific Fleet through more than three decades of deployments and has been at the leading edge of Aegis ballistic missile defense, serving as a key intercept platform for the Standard Missile-3 program. This framed ship photo is a tribute to her crew and the legacy of the youngest Tico-class cruiser still in service.
