USS Port Royal (CG-73) is a Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser commissioned on July 9, 1994, and homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Named for the decisive 1861 Battle of Port Royal, she has been an integral part of Pacific Fleet carrier strike group operations throughout her career. During the 2007-08 WESTPAC deployment commemorated by this sweatshirt, Port Royal deployed to the Western Pacific in support of ongoing operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, providing Aegis air defense for the strike group and contributing to U.S. naval presence in the Indo-Pacific region. This sweatshirt honors the crew who served during that deployment.
