USS Ranger was commissioned as CVA-61 — Attack Aircraft Carrier — in August 1957, one of the Forrestal-class supercarriers that defined American naval aviation during the Cold War. Operating from the Pacific Fleet, she conducted Vietnam War combat deployments from Yankee Station in the Gulf of Tonkin and earned a reputation as one of the most active carriers on the line. Redesignated CV-61 in 1975, she served until 1993. This neck gaiter pays tribute to the ship and her crew — wear it with pride.
