This framed photo captures USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) at NAS North Island, San Diego — her West Coast homeport before her 2015 deployment to Yokosuka, Japan and her home again since returning to the United States in 2024. North Island has been the West Coast home of carrier aviation since 1917, and the sight of a Nimitz-class supercarrier alongside the piers of Naval Air Station North Island is one of the defining images of San Diego's military identity. With the motto "Peace Through Strength," Reagan continues to anchor the Pacific Fleet's carrier force from her San Diego homeport.
