USS San Antonio (LPD-17) Framed Ship Photo

USS San Antonio (LPD-17) is the lead ship of her class of amphibious transport docks, commissioned January 14, 2006 and named for San Antonio, Texas. Designed as a 21st-century replacement for several legacy amphibious classes, she was the first U.S. Navy ship built around the V-22 Osprey and modern Marine Corps amphibious doctrine, carrying Marines and their helicopters, Ospreys, landing craft, and amphibious vehicles to crisis zones around the globe. Homeported at Naval Station Norfolk, San Antonio has deployed across the Mediterranean, the Persian Gulf, and the Caribbean.
