USS Saratoga was commissioned on April 14, 1956 as CVA-60 — Attack Aircraft Carrier — and joined the Atlantic Fleet as one of the first of the massive Forrestal-class supercarriers. Her Cold War career included the Cuban Missile Crisis, operations off Vietnam, and later the Libya strikes and Desert Shield. Redesignated CV-60 in 1972, she served until 1994. This neck gaiter pays tribute to the ship and all who served aboard her throughout her remarkable 38-year career.
