USS McCampbell (DDG-85) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer named for Commander David McCampbell, the Navy's all-time leading ace with 34 aerial victories and a Medal of Honor recipient for downing nine Japanese aircraft in a single mission at the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944. Forward-deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, she operates with the Seventh Fleet across the Western Pacific, including freedom-of-navigation operations in the South China Sea.
