USS Spruance (DDG-111) completed her 2012-13 maiden deployment as a newly commissioned Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Named for Admiral Raymond A. Spruance, the brilliant commander who led American forces to victory at the Battle of Midway in June 1942 and commanded the Fifth Fleet through the great Pacific campaigns of World War II, she carries forward a legendary name. Her crew established the ship's identity during this historic first deployment. This sweatshirt commemorates that maiden cruise.
