USS America (CVA-66) Spiral Notebook

USS America (CVA-66) was a Kitty Hawk-class conventionally powered aircraft carrier commissioned in 1965 — the third U.S. Navy ship to bear the name of the nation itself. Homeported at Norfolk and assigned to the Atlantic Fleet, she conducted her first combat deployment to the Gulf of Tonkin in 1968 and returned to Southeast Asia repeatedly, her air wing flying thousands of sorties over Vietnam. She was redesignated CV-66 on January 1, 1975.
