USS America (CV-66) Ship's Crest Flag

The crest of USS America (CV-66) represents 31 years of unbroken service to the United States Navy—from her commissioning on January 23, 1965, to her decommissioning on August 9, 1996. In those years she carried American air power from the Gulf of Tonkin to the Persian Gulf, from the cold waters of the North Atlantic to the Adriatic Sea. "Big Dog" of the Atlantic Fleet, USS America answered every challenge her nation set before her.
