USS Barney (DDG-6) was a Charles F. Adams-class guided-missile destroyer commissioned in 1962 and named for Commodore Joshua Barney, a naval hero of the American Revolution and the War of 1812. Barney served in the Atlantic Fleet, operating with the Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean during the Cold War era. She participated in NATO exercises and fleet operations across the Atlantic before her decommissioning in 1990 after nearly three decades of service.
