By 1966–67, Operation Rolling Thunder was in full swing, and USS Coral Sea (CVA-43) was a constant presence over North Vietnam. Flying from Yankee Station in the Gulf of Tonkin, her pilots struck bridges, rail lines, supply depots, and surface-to-air missile sites — the grinding, daily work of carrier aviation in a contested war. The 1966–67 cruise put Coral Sea at the center of America's air campaign, and her crew met the mission with professionalism and nerve.
