How to measure: lay a shirt that fits you well on a flat surface. Measure across the chest from armpit to armpit (chest width) and from the highest point of the shoulder to the bottom hem (length), then compare to the chart.

From her launch at Newport News in 1942 through her final decommissioning in 1969, USS Essex (CV/CVS-9) lived a life that encompassed the full arc of American naval power in the twentieth century. She earned 13 battle stars in the Pacific, launching strikes against the Japanese homeland and surviving kamikaze hits off Okinawa. In the Cold War she was reborn as an anti-submarine warfare carrier, patrolling the Mediterranean and Atlantic against the Soviet threat beneath the waves — and she made history when she recovered Mercury astronaut Wally Schirra after his Sigma 7 orbit in 1962. This is the crest of a ship that crossed every horizon and answered every call.
