USS James E. Williams (DDG-95) Spiral Notebook

USS James E. Williams (DDG-95) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer commissioned in 2004 and named for Boatswain's Mate First Class James Elliott Williams, a Navy Medal of Honor recipient who, as a patrol boat captain in Vietnam, single-handedly attacked and destroyed or disabled dozens of enemy sampans and junks during an intense firefight on the Mekong Delta in 1966 — one of the most heroic small-boat actions of the Vietnam War. Homeported in Mayport, Florida, she deploys in support of Atlantic Fleet operations.
