USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) — 1999–2000 Mediterranean/Adriatic Deployment. Straddling the millennium, Kennedy's battle group sailed into history. In the spring of 1999, her air wing flew combat missions in support of Operation Allied Force — NATO's air campaign to halt Serbian ethnic cleansing in Kosovo. The flight deck operated around the clock as carrier aviation proved once again that sea-based airpower could reach the heart of Europe. Sailors who turned the calendar from 1999 to 2000 did so underway, marking the new millennium in the company of shipmates, far from home but never far from duty.
