USS La Jolla (SSN-701) is a Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine commissioned on August 24, 1981 and named for the San Diego coastal community overlooking the Pacific. A Pacific Fleet boat, she conducted covert Cold War patrols across the Western Pacific, helping maintain the naval balance in the region.
