USS Lake Erie (CG-70) was commissioned on July 24, 1993, as a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser and named for the Battle of Lake Erie — Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's decisive victory over the British fleet on September 10, 1813, during the War of 1812. Homeported at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Lake Erie departed on her maiden deployment in 1994–95, deploying to the Western Pacific and establishing the ship as a powerful Aegis combatant within the Pacific Fleet. The crew experienced the full range of cruiser operations during this first extended deployment, from carrier strike group air defense to surface warfare and theater ballistic missile defense — laying the foundation for a ship that would go on to set records as a ballistic missile defense platform.
Commemorate Lake Erie's maiden deployment with this premium pullover sweatshirt — a meaningful keepsake for everyone who was aboard CG-70 during her historic first voyage.
