USS Midway (CV-41) participated in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm during her final major deployment. Sailing from Yokosuka in August 1990 in response to Iraq's invasion of Kuwait, Midway and Carrier Air Wing 5 conducted combat operations over Iraq during Desert Storm in January and February 1991. It was Midway's last combat deployment before decommissioning in 1992 after 47 years of distinguished service — including World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and the Gulf War. This sweatshirt commemorates that historic final cruise.
