USS Preble (DDG-88) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer named for Commodore Edward Preble, whose command of the U.S. Mediterranean Squadron during the First Barbary War (1803–1804) established the United States Navy as a credible fighting force. Homeported in San Diego, California, Preble has deployed to the Western Pacific with the Seventh Fleet, providing Aegis air defense and Tomahawk strike capability across the Indo-Pacific.
