USS San Jacinto (CG-56) is a Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser commissioned on January 23, 1988, and homeported at Naval Station Mayport, Florida. Named for the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836, in which General Sam Houston's forces decisively defeated Mexican troops and won Texas independence, the ship carries a legacy of bold and decisive action. This sweatshirt commemorates the Sailors of CG-56 who deployed in 1989, the ship's first full operational deployment following her commissioning, as San Jacinto began establishing herself as a premier surface combatant in the Atlantic Fleet.
