USS San Jacinto
The San Jacinto, commissioned in 1988, is a Ticonderoga-class cruiser named for the 1836 battle where Sam Houston's Texans defeated Santa Anna and won Texas independence in eighteen minutes. She served as one of the Atlantic Fleet's most capable AEGIS cruisers, deploying to the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf through the Gulf War and beyond. Fast, decisive, and deadly—just like the battle that gave her her name.
