USS Saratoga (CV-60) Operation Desert Storm Sweatshirt

The USS Saratoga (CV-60) was a Forrestal-class aircraft carrier commissioned on April 14, 1956, and homeported at Naval Station Mayport, Florida. When the call came for Operation Desert Shield in 1990, Saratoga was among the first carriers to deploy to the Red Sea. With the launch of Operation Desert Storm on January 17, 1991, Carrier Air Wing Seventeen flew strikes from Saratoga's deck for 43 consecutive days, targeting Iraqi command infrastructure, air defenses, armored units, and logistics throughout Kuwait and Iraq. The ship and her air wing played a pivotal role in the coalition's overwhelming air campaign. This sweatshirt honors the crew and air wing who served aboard USS Saratoga during Operation Desert Storm.
