USS W. S. Sims (FF-1059) was a Knox-class frigate commissioned on December 4, 1970. She served as a capable anti-submarine warfare platform in the Pacific Fleet, equipped with the ASROC rocket system and a towed array sonar that made her a potent hunter of enemy submarines during the height of the Cold War. She completed numerous deployments before her decommissioning in 1993. This sweatshirt bears her official ship's crest.
