USS Spruance (DDG-111) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer named for Admiral Raymond A. Spruance, whose calm, methodical leadership at the Battle of Midway in June 1942 turned the tide of the Pacific War in a single day, sinking four Japanese fleet carriers. Homeported in San Diego, California, Spruance has deployed to the Western Pacific with the Seventh Fleet, conducting operations in the South China Sea and broader Indo-Pacific.
