USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG-108) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer named for Rear Admiral Wayne E. Meyer, the “father of Aegis” — the combat management system that transformed U.S. Navy air defense and now shields carrier strike groups and allied territory from ballistic-missile threats. Homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, she has deployed to the Western Pacific with the Seventh Fleet, providing Aegis air defense and Tomahawk strike capability.
