USS Valley Forge (CG-50) was the third ship of the Ticonderoga class, commissioned January 18, 1986 at Pascagoula, Mississippi and named for Washington's winter 1777-78 encampment at Valley Forge — where the Continental Army endured one of the most defining hardships in American history. Homeported at NAS North Island, San Diego, Valley Forge served the Pacific Fleet through Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and multiple Western Pacific deployments before her decommissioning August 30, 2004. This framed ship photo is a tribute to her crew and the legacy of one of the earliest Aegis cruisers in the fleet.
