VFA-137 Kestrels flew the F/A-18E Super Hornet from NAS Lemoore, California. Established in 2005 and disestablished in 2012, the Kestrels deployed as part of Carrier Air Wing 11 (CVW-11) aboard USS Nimitz (CVN-68) and with Carrier Air Wing 9 (CVW-9) aboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74). The kestrel, a nimble falcon known for its speed and precision in the hunt, served as an apt emblem for a Super Hornet strike fighter squadron.
