This framed photo captures USS Vicksburg (CG-69) transiting the Strait of Gibraltar — the narrow choke point between Spain and Morocco that connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea, traversed by every U.S. Navy ship deployed to the Sixth Fleet. A Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser commissioned November 14, 1992 and named for the 1863 Civil War Siege of Vicksburg, she served the Atlantic Fleet from Naval Station Mayport, Florida through more than two decades of Mediterranean and Persian Gulf deployments before being placed in reserve in 2011. This framed ship photo is a tribute to her crew and the legacy of one of the most heavily deployed Aegis cruisers of the post-Cold War era.
