USS Yorktown (CVS-10) served from 1943 through 1970, earning 11 battle stars in World War II and additional commendations for Vietnam War service. Commissioned as CV-10 and nicknamed "The Fighting Lady," she participated in virtually every major Pacific campaign including the Battles of the Philippine Sea and Leyte Gulf. Redesignated CVS-10, she served as an anti-submarine warfare carrier and was the recovery ship for the Apollo 8 mission in 1968. Today she is preserved as a museum ship at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Classic unisex crewneck sweatshirt bearing the official ship's crest.
