USS Kitty Hawk (CVA-63) was the lead ship of her class of conventional aircraft carriers, commissioned in 1961. She served in the Pacific Fleet throughout her career, deploying to Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War and later serving as the forward-deployed carrier in Yokosuka, Japan, from 1998 to 2008. The second-longest serving carrier in U.S. history, she was decommissioned in 2009 as the last non-nuclear carrier in service.
