USS Howard (DDG-83) Spiral Notebook

USS Howard (DDG-83) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer commissioned in 2001 and named for Sergeant Jimmy Howard, a Marine Corps Medal of Honor recipient who, though wounded multiple times, led and inspired his men to hold their position against a vastly superior North Vietnamese force in 1966. Despite his wounds, he refused evacuation. Homeported in San Diego, Howard has deployed to the Western Pacific and Persian Gulf in support of combatant command requirements.
