USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer named for Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, a Navy SEAL killed in Afghanistan in 2005 while leading a four-man reconnaissance team in the mission known as Operation Red Wings — posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. Homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, she has deployed to the Western Pacific with the Seventh Fleet, providing Aegis air defense to carrier strike groups.
