USS Ross (DDG-71) Spiral Notebook

USS Ross (DDG-71) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer named for Donald K. Ross, a chief machinist's mate awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism aboard USS Nevada (BB-36) during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, single-handedly keeping the battleship's forward engine room operational despite fires, flooding, and smoke. Forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, Ross serves as a ballistic-missile-defense ship with the Sixth Fleet.
