USS Stethem (DDG-63) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer named for Robert Dean Stethem, a U.S. Navy diver murdered by Hezbollah hijackers aboard TWA Flight 847 in June 1985 after refusing to renounce his service under brutal interrogation. Forward-deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, Stethem operates with the Seventh Fleet, conducting freedom-of-navigation operations in the South China Sea and exercises with allied navies across the Indo-Pacific.
