USS Sacramento (AOE-1) was the lead ship of her class and the world's first fast combat support ship — a revolutionary underway-replenishment design that delivered fuel, ammunition, and provisions simultaneously while matching the speed of carrier battle groups. She sustained Pacific Fleet carrier groups for more than three decades through Vietnam, the Cold War, and Desert Storm before decommissioning in 1997.
