The 2001-02 deployment put Antietam's crew in the middle of the Navy's response to the worst attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor. Operating in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, she brought Aegis air defense and Tomahawk strike capability to bear in the Arabian Sea — part of the naval force that held the line while the nation caught its breath and struck back. The Sailors who made that deployment deserve to be remembered.
